Kroger planning new stores, jobs in Huntsville and Madison
BIRMINGHAM — Ohio-based retailer Kroger has some major upgrades and additions for north Alabama in its crosshairs, Birmingham Business Journal reported.
The company told AL.com it plans to build a new 123,000 square-foot Kroger at U.S. Highway 72 and County Line Road in Huntsville, which Kroger hopes to complete by mid-2017. Meanwhile, work continues on a 100,000 square-foot location Browns Ferry Road and Wall Triana Highway in Madison. That location will open this fall.

The announcement comes amid Kroger’s $250 million investment push in its Nashville region, which includes parts of north Alabama. The company hopes to create more than 2,000 jobs as a result.
